paging patrick rafter.....

after a few patrick rafter sightings during coverage of the aussie open, i really must say that i miss seeing him play. it's been so long now, that it seems easy to forget how great he actually was. when i saw he was being inducted into the hall of fame, i thought it a bit strange....with players currently chalking up 10 or 11 singles titles wins in a season, let alone a 12-year career, it feels a bit off to induct someone who only won 11 singles titles (although 2 were grand slams) and 12 doubles titles. it's nothing to sneeze at...in fact, far from it....but i think the great talent and sportsmanship he exhibited is elevating his status as an elite player. I suppose if you think about it, competing with agassi and sampras for wimbledon and us open titles, he was the only other player at the time that competed in their class; but he seems so young to be receiving the nod. as a great fan of rafter's game and gamesmanship, it's nice to see.

as for the flyers.......sh$@#! they are so frustrating. whatever. if they end up losing the division to the rangers, heads will roll. dammit, they suck at maintaining points leads. some things never change.

on to the aussie open coverage......go ljubicic! he was my pick from the start and he'd better land in the final. love those croats!
